Having recently moved to a histoic central Bath location, our artist client requried a bespoke freestanding bed-deck to transform how they use the extensive period ceiling heights.

The deck showcases modern lightweight composite roof trusses as the key structural element of the deck, setting the repetitive wave pattern next to the detailed cornicing.

The deck is accessed via a black Valchromat storage staircase that sits behind the main softwood supports. Open shelves and hanging rails provide tailor made storage for art supplies.

The storage stairs are built in two parts, with a removable forward section that acts as a drawbridge, providing privacy and flexibility when the studio receives guests.
